Development: On 7 September President Nicolás Maduro ordered the closure of the Paraguachón border zone between the Venezuelan state of Zulia and the northernmost Colombian department of Guajira and put three local municipalities, Almirante Padilla, Guajira and Mar, under a state of exception, with 3,000 soldiers to be deployed to the area, to join some 2,000 already stationed there.
