Development: On 1 February the ‘G-8’ grouping of opposition presidential candidates refused to meet with the special mission from the Organization of American States (OAS) deployed to Haiti as part of efforts to find a solution to the political crisis stemming from the cancellation of the 24 January presidential run-off election between Jovenel Moïse of President Michel Martelly’s Parti Haïtien Têt Kalé (PHTK) and Jude Célestin of the opposition Ligue Alternative Pour le Progrés et l’Emancipation Haïtienne (Lapeh) party, as well as partial legislative run-off elections.
