President Juan Manuel Santos warned the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) in no uncertain terms this week that “time is running out” to conclude the peace talks by 23 March. Santos was forced to toughen up his rhetoric after the head of the Farc negotiating team in Cuba, ‘Iván Márquez’ (Luciano Marín Arango), led a rally in northern Colombia protected by heavily armed guerrillas. Santos accused the Farc of “[failing to] break the link between weapons and politics”.
