The official campaign period ahead of the 5 June gubernatorial and legislative elections in 12 Mexican states (plus state legislative and municipal elections in another) began on 3-4 April. The early signs of the campaign suggest that in this politically sensitive period the main opposition parties are seeking to present a united front and politically damage the nationally ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) ahead of the 2018 general elections.
