Mexico may not be directly involved in supporting the peace negotiations that the Colombian government has been holding with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrilla group in Cuba since 2012. But this did not, however, stop Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto from personally attending the 23 June public ceremony of the signing of the historic agreement establishing the terms under which the two sides are to implement a definitive bilateral ceasefire once a full peace deal is achieved.
