HAITI: Privert officially calls the vote
Haiti’s interim president, Jocelerme Privert, has formally called the new presidential, partial legislative, and local elections. With continued doubts as to how the vote will be funded (see sidebar), Privert’s official convocation of the election (which is in line with 2015 electoral legislation) takes place amid ongoing uncertainty regarding the current political climate – chief of which is the legitimacy of his own mandate which expired on 14 June and has yet to be extended by the bicameral national legislature.
