Venezuela’s national assembly, including deputies from the ruling Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV) and the opposition coalition Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), voted unanimously this week to condemn the extrajudicial massacre by soldiers of 12 innocent civilians from the town of Barlovento, in the central state of Miranda. The declaration condemned “the forced disappearance and killing of a number of citizens…by members of the military”.
