The ghost of Rafael Trujillo could soon be stalking the Dominican
Republic again. The remains of Trujillo, who, despite some tough competition, is
possibly Latin America's most brutal dictator, will be flown back to the country
from Madrid if congress approves a bill to create a memorial museum in the
southern province of San Cristóbal, Trujillo's birthplace. The debate is taking
place just as some within the opposition Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD)
are hyperbolically comparing President Leonel Fernández, who returned from a
13-day trip to the US last week, with Trujillo for concentrating power in his
