Colombia: The central bank (Banrep) has released figures which show that remittances sent from Colombians living abroad back to relatives in the country have reached an all-time high in the first half of the year. On Banrep figures, in the six months of the year remittances reached US$2.57bn, with up to US$1.36bn being sent in the second quarter alone. This value of the remittances sent to Colombia in the first half of the year has just surpassed the previous historic high mark of US$2.549bn, registered in the second half of 2015.
