* The federal electricity commission (CFE), the state-owned electricity distribution firm, has reported that strong winds knocked down a distribution tower at its electricity substation in the municipality of Nava, in the north-eastern state of Coahuila, leaving millions of residents in the states Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Chihuahua without an electrical supply. Among the most badly affected cities are Saltillo (Coahuila), Monterrey (Nuevo León), and Reynosa (Tamaulipas), as well as some in the state of Chihuahua. With electricity services being gradually restored, the national energy control centre (Cenace) is now investigating the causes of the power outage more thoroughly.
