Argentina: According to the national statistics institute (Indec), exports reached US$5.23bn in August while imports totalled US$6.31bn, leaving a trade deficit of US$1.08bn. Exports were down by 9.2% in August compared with the same month the previous year, while imports were up 24.9% compared with August 2016. In the first eight months of the year, Argentina’s exports reached US$38.52bn, down 0.1% compared with the same period in 2016, while imports reached US$43.02bn, a 16.8% increase. The trade deficit for the first eight months of the year was US$4.5bn.
