Constitutional doubts characterise Guatemalan vote

With no less than three presidential hopefuls facing possible legal objections to their candidacies, the constitutional court (CC) looks set to play an unusually prominent role in Guatemala's general elections this September. Critically, these candidates include the likely contender for President Alvaro Colom's centre-left Unidad Nacional de la Esperanza (UNE), First Lady Sandra Torres de Colom, who is currently second in the polls.
