Peru/Chile: The governments of Chile and Peru have opened a joint border crossing at Santa Rosa border complex (in Peru’s Tacna region) and Chacalluta border complex (in Chile’s Arica y Paranicota region). The event was hosted by Chile’s sub-secretary for foreign affairs, Edgardo Riveros, and Peru’s deputy foreign minister, Néstor Popolizio. The new border crossing is in line with agreements made at the first ever Peru-Chile binational cabinet which took place on 7 July in Peru’s capital, Lima, and the framework to implement joint border controls signed by the two countries in 2011.
