Bolivia: Bolivia’s central bank (BCB) has released new figures on remittance inflows which show that these reached US$113.8m in August 2017, up 2.8% on the same month in 2016. In the first eight months of 2017, remittances were US$832.1m, up 5.1% compared with the same period in 2016. The main sources of remittances were Spain (which accounted for 31.9% in the first eight months of 2017), followed by the US (17.3%), Argentina (14.2%), Brazil (12.5%), and Chile (9.3%). As regards the destinations for remittances, Santa Cruz department received 41.7% of the total followed by the departments of Cochabamba (31.5%) and La Paz (13.9%).
