This is how United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres described the closure of the UN Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (Minustah) which ended its mandate on 15 October. Minustah has been replaced by another mission – the smaller UN Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (Minujusth) – which has an initial six-month mandate to assist the government to “strengthen rule of law institutions; further support and develop the National Police; and engage in human rights monitoring, reporting, and analysis”.
