* Brazil’s planning minister, Diogo Oliveira, has said that the government may reduce the minimum wage from R$969 (US$294) to R$965 (US$293) per month in its 2018 draft budget. The measure will affect around 45m people. This would save Brazil’s cash-strapped government R$1.2bn (US$360m) next year.
