President Laura Chinchilla has announced a new 10-year plan to tackle
crime head on and improve public security in Costa Rica. Flanked by the
president of the supreme court of justice, Luis Paulino Mora and the president
of congress, Luis Gerardo Villanueva, Chinchilla said that the plan was
unprecedented as it would involve close cooperation between all three branches
of government. They each signed up to the policy recommendations of a report
dubbed Polsepaz (Integral and Sustainable Policy for Citizen Security and
Promotion of Social Peace), which was drawn up with the assistance of the UN
Development Programme after extensive public consultation.End of preview - This article contains approximately 350 words.
