* Enel Green Power Brasil Participações, a subsidiary of the Italian multinational electricity firm Enel, has inaugurated the Nova Olinda solar plant located in Brazil’s north-eastern state of Piauí. This is the biggest solar plant in Latin America. Spanning 690 hectares (ha), the new facility will have a total installed capacity of 292 MW and will be able to generate more than 600 GWh per year, enough to meet the annual energy consumption needs of around 300,000 Brazilian households. Enel has invested some US$300m in constructing the plant.
