* The number of Brazilians who permanently left the country grew by 165% over the last seven years, according to local daily G1. Over 21,700 Brazilians emigrated in 2017, more than double the 8,100 who left in 2011. This follows an uptick in emigration during the economic crisis, which rose 40% between 2015-2016. Some analysts are concerned this could lead to a brain drain in Brazil.
