* The Venezuelan goverment has freed Brazilian national Jonatan Diniz, closing a diplomatic rift between the two neighbouring countries. Having been expelled from Caracas, Diniz was flown back to the US, where he is a resident. Brazilian authorities had been campaigning for Diniz’s swift release after he was locked up in December 2017 for allegedly trying to destabilise the Venezuelan government while on a human rights mission to distribute food and presents to those who could not afford to celebrate Christmas.
