* Brazil’s planning, development & administration ministry has reported that Chinese investments in Brazil reached US$29.9bn in 2017, the highest figure since 2010. A ministerial statement noted that with the latest figures, the level of Chinese investments in Brazil between 2003 and 2017 reached US$123.9bn, spanning 250 different projects. Although the statement notes that the majority of Chinese investments (85%) are still concentrated in the areas of energy and mining, it also noted that in recent years there has been an increasing diversification towards other sectors such as the services sector.
