In brief: Argentina

Argentina: The national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that the national inflation rate was 1.8% in January, slightly higher than market expectations of 1.7%. According to Indec, the January figure brings the cumulative 12-month rolling inflation rate to 25% (down from 35% previously). This is still well above the official annual inflation target rate of 15% and suggests that, despite its efforts, the government led by President Mauricio Macri is still struggling to bring inflation under control.
