Retired Major General Miguel Rodríguez Torres was arrested on 13 March accused of conspiring against the government led by President Nicolás Maduro and seeking to destabilise the Bolivarian armed forces (FANB). Rodríguez Torres served as interior minister under Maduro and head of Venezuelan intelligence under former president Hugo Chávez (1999-2013).
