That the Argentine opposition must unite if it is to stand a chance
against President Cristina Fernández (should she finally confirm her re-election
bid) on 23 October is not news to anyone; this week, however, Mauricio Macri,
the right-wing mayor of the city of Buenos Aires, was the latest political
leader to pick up the 'anti-K' coalition banner, calling on all members of this
heterogeneous group to produce a document setting out a “road map" for an
opposition government should one take power on 10 December. According to Macri,
an opposition administration should focus on education, poverty, employment,
