Bolivia: Bolivia’s President Evo Morales has signed two laws that will grant the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in San Telmo and Astillero, two oil fields in Tarija department. According to Bolivian state-run news agency,
Abi, exploitation of these two oil fields, the concessions for which have been awarded to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, along with subsidiaries from Bolivia’s state-owned oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Boliviano (YPFB), will generate revenue of US$1.8bn for Tarija department, and US$8.915bn for the Bolivian state. Hydrocarbons Minister Luis Alberto Sánchez has said that some US$700m has been approved in investment for activities related to the two oil fields, which will begin production in 2021.
