Argentina: Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures which show that Argentina’s exports reached US$5.16bn in April, while imports reached US$6.10bn, leaving a trade deficit of US$938m. Exports were up 6.2% compared with the same month last year, while imports were up 22.7% compared with April 2017. The total number of exports for the first four months of 2018 was US$19.57bn, up 11.1% on the same period last year. The total value of imports for the first four months of 2018 was US$22.99bn, up 21.6% on the same period in 2017. This leaves a deficit of US$3.4bn in the first quarter of 2018 compared with a deficit of US$1.3bn in the same period last year.
