Chile: Chile’s national customs service (Aduana) has reported that trade between Chile and the rest of the world increased by 18.4% between January and May compared to the same period in 2017, reaching US$58.29bn. Chile’s exports during the period totalled US$32.443bn, while imports reached US$25.846bn. Exports increased by 20% in the first five months of the year compared to 2017, with copper and derived products accounting for 48% of total exports. Overall imports increased by 17% compared to 2017 with petrol fuel representing 17.3% of the country’s total imports. Trade with Asia represented 44% of the total, with China, Japan, and South Korea as the main commercial partners; while trade with the rest of the Americas was 38% of the total.
