Peru: Peru’s foreign trade & tourism ministry (Mincetur) has reported that Peruvian cotton garment exports to Brazil increased by 90% to US$15.7m year-on-year in the first four months of the year. A Mincetur statement noted that the overall increase was driven by significant up-ticks in the shipments of blouses (a 284% increase), polo shirts (116%) and shirts (82%). Mincetur also noted that non-traditional Peruvian exports to Brazil also had a significant increase of 46% in the first four months of the year driven by a 137% increase in exports of chemicals, which was attributed to an increase in activity in Brazil’s industrial sector.
