* President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador has promised to lift Mexico out of “economic stagnation” after a meeting on 9 July with the country’s powerful industrial lobby, the Confederación de Cámaras Industriales (Concamin). “We haven’t grown adequately in the last 35 years, we have an average economic growth of 2% and this has prevented us from creating jobs in the country,” contributing to problems such as “poverty, insecurity, and violence”, López Obrador said. López Obrador promised that his incoming government would deliver annual average GDP growth of 4% “not seen under neoliberalism”, which he dated to the mid-1980s.
