President Nicolás Maduro has announced the creation of a new ‘mission’ to guarantee citizen security in Venezuela. Ordinary Venezuelans suffering from the parlous state of public security in the country are unlikely to attach any great expectation to the government’s latest offering. There has been no shortage of missions in the past with similarly ambitious intent.
