* Brazil’s agriculture & livestock minister, Blairo Maggi, has signed a new memorandum of understanding with his Chilean counterpart, Antonio Walker, allowing for the opening of a bilateral organic food market. Minister Maggi explained that under the memorandum - signed on the side lines of the XXXVI southern agricultural council (CAS) celebrated on 20-21 September in Buenos Aires, Argentina - Chile and Brazil have agreed to come up with common regulations on what products can be labelled as organic, which would help to facilitate bilateral trade in these products. Maggi noted that this would help to boost the organic agricultural production sector in both countries.
