Bolsonaro, who continues to lead all voting intention polls but remains in hospital after being stabbed earlier this month, has released a post on social media in which he said that he is “committed to reducing the number of [government] ministries and eliminate or privatise many of the state firms that currently exist”, as part of efforts to reduce wasteful government spending. Bolsonaro said that, in his opinion, the resources currently destined to the state-run firms are being misspent and would be better used if “destined to attend the needs of the people”.
