* Ecuador’s economy & finance ministry has announced that the country has reduced its fiscal deficit by US$1.66bn in the first nine months of 2018, a 57% reduction compared to the US$2.89bn deficit posted in January-September 2017. The economy & finance minister Richard Martínez assured that this success is the result of the fiscal policies implemented by President Lenin Moreno’s government, and he said that the numbers are in line with the government’s projected aim to contain its total fiscal deficit to 4.1% of GDP by the end of the year.
