* Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released its latest inflation figures, which show that the consumer price index increased by 0.39% month-on-month in September. This was the second consecutive monthly increase in the consumer price index in Ecuador since March last year and has fuelled optimism that activity in the domestic economy is picking up steam after months of stagnation. The September consumer price index increased by 0.23% compared to the same month last year and brought the cumulative inflation rate for the year to 0.47%. Economists now project that year-end inflation in Ecuador will reach 1.4%, reverting the -0.20% overall fall in prices registered in 2017.
