Inflation. The consumer price index increased by 0.42% in the month of September, the national statistics institute (Inegi) reported. The annualised inflation rate is now 5.02%, marking the highest rate in six months. An increase in energy prices was the main driver, with liquid petroleum gas (LPG) prices increasing by 5.3% and low-octane petrol prices increasing by 1.47%. The price of the basket of basic goods increased 0.82% in September, reaching an annualised rate of 8.14%, and the cost of primary education also increased by 4.22% in the month.
