Reuters, the international new agency, has reported that all activity at Cardón refinery, Venezuela’s second largest, is currently paralysed. According to a
Reuters report based on an interview with a Cardón refinery union leader, all activity at the refining facility owned by Venezuela’s state-owned oil firm Pdvsa was paralysed on 18 October as result of a lack of crude supplies. Union leader, Iván Freites, reportedly said that while one of Cardón’s refining units is currently under repair the other three units are currently not processing any crude as shipments have stopped, suggesting that the fall in crude production at Pdvsa is starting to reach a critical point.
