* Brazil’s Vice President-elect Hamilton Mourão has said that the incoming government led by President-elect Jair Bolsonaro will analyse the privatising of BR Distribuidora, one of the largest subsidiaries of the state-owned oil firm Petrobras, once it assumes office in January 2019. Speaking to US investors during a videoconference, Mourão said that the government transition team was already considering the possibility of privatising BR Distribuidora, Petrobras’s petrol fuel distribution arm, which has over 34,000 petrol stations across Brazil making it the local market leader, as part of the major privatisation programme promised by Bolsonaro. However, Mourão insisted that the government transition team was clear that Petrobras and its core business of oil production should remain under state control.
