Trinidad & Tobago has made some progress on fighting corruption. In 2016, it was ranked a lowly 101 on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. By the time of the 2017 report, it had jumped 24 places, to 77th with a score of 41. The lowest score is Somalia with nine, the highest New Zealand with 89. The government has made it clear that it wants to improve further, not least because at least seven Caribbean countries score more favourably than Trinidad, namely Barbados, The Bahamas, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica, St Lucia, Cuba, and Jamaica, variously ranked between 25th and 68th in the index.End of preview - This article contains approximately 546 words.
