In brief: Brazil

* Global information provider IHS Markit has released its latest Brazil Business Outlook report, in which it notes increased optimism amongst Brazilian companies regarding the country’s economic growth prospects. Business activity expectations (the percentage of companies expecting an increase in the next twelve months minus those expecting a decline) reached 67% in October, up from 44% in June, and the highest mark since June 2014. The end of electoral uncertainty with the election of Jair Bolsonaro as Brazil's next president and the belief that his government will engender economic stability and increase job creation are boosting confidence. IHS Markit notes, however, that concerns persist around a possible devaluation of the real, and the blocking of economic reforms in Brazil's congress.
