* German industrial conglomerate, Siemens AG, has announced it plans to invest US$200m to finance and develop wind and solar energy projects in Mexico. Juan Ignacio Díaz, Siemens CEO for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, said that the investment in clean energy initiatives in Mexico is part of the firm’s wider plans to invest US$20m in Mexico in the next 10 years to help “make Mexico an innovative country”. Díaz also admitted that Siemens had secured contracts for the new Mexico City international airport project (NAIM) which President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said that he will cancel, but he insisted that Siemens is prepared to work with the incoming government to help develop the country.
