* Presidents Lenín Moreno of Ecuador and Iván Duque of Colombia have a signed a joint declaration in which their respective governments commit to creating a new trust fund to help finance social development projects along their shared border. The declaration was signed during the VII bi-national cabinet meeting held in Quito, Ecuador. Moreno said that the new trust fund dubbed ‘Centro de Atención Binacional en la Zona de Frontera’ would allow for the development of the shared border via “common projects”. Duque said that the idea is that the new fund will help Colombia and Ecuador “directly and promptly address the needs of citizens in the border areas”.
