* Costa Rica’s railway institute (Incofer) has approved the purchase of eight new trains from China’s CRRC Quingdao Sifang Co Ltd at a total cost of US$32.66m. Each train will be 38m long and have a capacity for 372 passengers. According to a press release by Costa Rica's presidency, the first two trains will be handed over within 16 months while the rest will be handed over two months later. Also, on 6 December Costa Rica's presidency announced a US$11m donation from the Chinese government to go on modernising security at the national stadium.
