In brief: Argentina

* The governor of Argentina’s Chaco province, Domingo Peppo, has said that he is seeking some Ar$3.3bn (US$88m) in either federal funding or from multilateral organisations to address the impact of recent floods which have left around 3,000 displaced in the province. Peppo was cited by the local press as saying that his administration needs the funds in order to make repairs to infrastructure and public works as well as to address the impact on farmland and livestock. He told the local press that, with the full impact of the floods yet to be known, four people have died and over 5,000 people have been displaced in the northern provinces of Chaco, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, and Santa Fe.
