Former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) put up a fierce defence of her innocence in court this week. Claiming to be the victim of political persecution, Fernández said that the range of charges brought against her amounted to “a script worthy of an Oscar”. She was appearing in court for questioning related to the so-called ‘notebook’ case in which she stands accused of illicit association.
