* The latest data from Nicaragua’s centre of export procedures (Cetrex) shows that Nicaraguan exports in January-February 2019 have increased in volume but decreased in value compared to 2018. The country exported over 440,460 tonnes of products in January-February 2019, up from 428,357 tonnes during the same period last year. However, last year’s January-February exports generated US$475m, whereas exports over the first two months of this year were worth US$451.7m. The average price per kilo for sugar and coffee, two of Nicaragua’s principal export products, fell from US$0.5 and US$3.1 respectively to US$0.3 and US$2.8.
