Exports up. On 22 January Costa Rica’s official export promotion agency (Procomer) released new figures which show that exports of goods from Costa Rica totalled US$11.3bn in 2018 – a 6.5% increase on the US$10.62bn recorded in 2017. According to figures revealed by Procomer, Costa Rica’s main export sector was medical devices (US$3.32bn), up 18% on 2017, followed by pineapples (US$990m), and bananas (US$981m). However, the agricultural sector did not show any growth. Costa Rica’s main export market is the US which accounted for US$4.61bn of the country’s exports in 2018.
