In brief: Mexico

* Alfonso Romo, the chief of staff of Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has told reporters that President López Obrador has called for further spending cuts to be made by his administration. Romo made his remarks at the general assembly of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (Amcham). According to the local press, the cuts are designed to avoid an increase in the fiscal deficit.
