The 3 April deadline for the latest round of talks between the government led by President Daniel Ortega and opposition Alianza Cívica por la Justicia y la Democracia (ACJD), which began at the end of February, has come and gone with little to show. The talks were aimed at finding a solution to the crisis which began just over a year ago, stemming from the government’s crackdown on its opponents. As previously, the ACJD is denouncing a lack of will on the Ortega government’s part to find a genuine solution.
