With just over two months to go until the general election, Guatemala’s electoral authority (TSE) has revoked the candidacy of one of the main contenders, Thelma Aldana, a former attorney general (AG) (2014-2018), who was running for the new centre-left Movimiento Semilla. Aldana, who has said that she will appeal the move, maintains that there are efforts afoot by the political establishment to exclude her from the race.
