In brief: Peru

* Peru’s national statistics institute (INEI) has released new figures which show that monetary poverty fell by 1.2 percentage points (equivalent to 313,000 people) in 2018, from 21.7% in 2017 to 20.5% in 2018. Additionally, the INEI reported that monetary poverty fell by 3.4% between 2013-2018 and 16.8% between 2008-2018 while extreme poverty decreased from 3.8% in 2017 to 2.8% in 2018.
